Before the game between Portugal and Liechtenstein for the Euro 2024 Qualifiers, Cristiano Ronaldo gave a press conference and commented on his first impressions of Saudi Arabian football and the current moment in his career. Since the beginning of the year, the Portuguese forward has been playing for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, after being released by Manchester United at the end of November 2022 during the World Cup.
“I feel good, that’s why I’m here. If I didn’t feel good, if the manager didn’t think so, I wouldn’t have come. Now, in Saudi Arabia, it’s a different stage. I’m not going to say it’s the Premier League because I would be lying. But I’m very positively surprised, it’s a very competitive league,” the athlete said.
Cristiano expressed great admiration for the potential of the Saudi Championship, stating that the league has all the conditions to develop and become one of the best in the world.
“The teams are very good, the Arab players are good, the foreign players bring a different quality. If they continue the plan, it will certainly be the fifth, sixth most competitive league in the world. I’m fine, I come well-prepared, I’m ready to play,” he added.
The first round of the Euro 2024 Qualifiers will begin on Thursday with the game between Portugal and Liechtenstein.
