CR7 ‘s possible 2 year title drought

Apr 26, 2023 | Football

Cristiano Ronaldo, CR7, is known for setting many records throughout his career. However, this time, he may face a negative historical mark. The team he currently plays for, Al-Nassr, was eliminated from the Saudi King’s Cup, which means they may not win any titles this season.

Ronaldo has only had five seasons in his entire career without winning trophies, including the 2004/05 season with Manchester United, 2009/10 and 2014/15 with Real Madrid, and the current 2021/22 season with Manchester United. If Al-Nassr does not surpass Al-Ittihad and fails to win the Saudi League, this will be the first time since 2002 that Ronaldo will go two consecutive years without titles.

In addition to the loss in the Saudi King’s Cup, Cristiano Ronaldo also lost the Saudi Super Cup earlier this season to Al-Ittihad, the team currently leading the Saudi League.

However, the current moment at Al-Nassr is not favorable. The team recently fired coach Rudi Garcia and, with a new coach, suffered a defeat to Al-Hilal last week. During that match, Ronaldo was unable to score any goals and ended up applying a chokehold to midfielder Cuéllar, as well as making an obscene gesture in response to rival fans on his way out of the field.
