After securing his future career by signing a lucrative contract with the PFL, Francis Ngannou still doesn’t have a defined opponent in combat sports. However, he is keeping a close eye on what’s happening in the scene and reveals a clear preference. Last Thursday (18), the Cameroonian fighter seized the controversy surrounding Joe Rogan and Tyson Fury and once again expressed his interest in facing the world boxing champion.
It all started when the UFC commentator claimed that the British fighter would have serious problems if he were locked in a room to compete against Jon Jones. Upon learning of Rogan’s statements, the ‘Gypsy King’ immediately responded and criticized the commentator. Ngannou then reiterated his desire to face Fury and publicly challenged him to a fight through his social media channels.
It’s worth noting that former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou dreams of venturing into boxing and sees Tyson Fury, one of the top names in this noble sport, as the perfect opponent. In fact, the duo has already been close to formalizing a potential showdown in the ring. Ngannou informs that he will make his debut in the PFL only in 2024 and plans to compete in boxing for the first time in the current season, thus directing his attention towards the British fighter.
“I’m here all the time, Fury. Since none of these boxers want to fight, let’s make it official,” wrote the former UFC champion on his official Twitter account.
At 36 years old, Francis Ngannou has achieved success in MMA by competing in the UFC, defeating notable opponents and becoming one of the most feared fighters in the sport. Within the organization, the former heavyweight champion knocked out Alistair Overeem, Andrei Arlovski, Cain Velasquez, Curtis Blaydes (twice), Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Junior ‘Cigano,’ and Stipe Miocic, in addition to winning a decision against Ciryl Gane in his sole title defense.
‘The Predator’ has garnered such prestige that he is already considered by some fans and specialized media as one of the all-time greats in the division, thanks to his physical prowess and destructive power. Currently, the Cameroonian is preparing to embark on his journey in the PFL.
