LeBron considers retirement after big loss

After concluding his twentieth season in the NBA with a playoff elimination, LeBron James walked towards the locker room on Monday night (22) with a sense of bitterness. However, this time, the Los Angeles Lakers star revealed to ESPN that he is considering the possibility of retirement and is unsure about his return to the court.

After scoring 40 points in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 113-111 loss to the Denver Nuggets in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, LeBron James expressed in a press conference that he has a lot to think about. When questioned by ESPN about the meaning of this statement, James revealed that he is considering whether he wants to continue playing next year and needs to reflect on it. When asked if he could leave the team, he responded that he needs to weigh that possibility.

LeBron James, 38 years old, led the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals in his 20th NBA season. He played all 17 playoff games while dealing with a right foot injury that caused him to miss a month of competition during the regular season. After injuring his foot in a game against the Dallas Mavericks on February 26, James sought opinions from various doctors, some of whom recommended surgery. However, he consulted a highly regarded specialist in the field and was assured that he could recover without the need for surgical intervention.

LeBron James stated that he will undergo an MRI to evaluate how his tendon has healed and then decide on his future. Although the foot injury has affected his recent performance, he did not consider ending the season early this time, as he did in previous seasons due to other injuries. James demonstrated determination to reach the end of the season despite physical adversities.

In Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets, James had a brilliant performance, setting his new personal record for points in a playoff game interval by scoring 31 points on 11 of 13 shooting. He showcased his skill and impact on the playoff stage, accumulating 282 postseason games in his career.

LeBron James still has one more season left on his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, worth $46.7 million, along with a player option for the following season, which would earn him $50.4 million. In recent years, James has expressed his desire to play in the same league as his eldest son, Bronny, before considering retirement.
