Real Madrid is going through a squad overhaul following the departure of key players, with the most significant being center-forward Karim Benzema. In anticipation of the upcoming season, the club has made an important decision: changing the players’ shirt numbers.
One of the main beneficiaries of this change is Vinicius Jr., who will now don the iconic number 7 shirt, which was immortalized by Cristiano Ronaldo and previously worn by former striker Raúl.
Until now, Vinicius Jr. had been wearing the number 20 shirt at Real Madrid.
In addition to Vinicius Jr., another player who will have a different number at Real Madrid is Rodrygo. He will now wear the number 11 shirt, which became available following Marco Asensio’s departure. The number 11 shirt holds significance at the club, having been worn by notable players such as Gento, Valdano, and Gareth Bale.
