It’s official! Arsenal has officially announced the signing of forward Kai Havertz, former Chelsea player. The 24-year-old German player is the first confirmed addition to the Gunners for the upcoming European season.
According to ESPN reports, Havertz’s transfer to Arsenal will cost £65 million (R$397 million). The striker will officially join the new club at the beginning of July for the start of pre-season. Havertz will wear the number 29 shirt, the same number he wore during his time at Chelsea.
“I am super excited to arrive at this incredible club and be part of the Arsenal family. This club has a great history, and I hope we can achieve many things,” said the new signing.
“The team mentality at Arsenal is very high, and you can feel it. That’s one of the reasons why it has been so difficult to play against Arsenal recently,” he added.
Kai Havertz, who was developed at Bayer Leverkusen, was signed by Chelsea in 2020 and became a hero by scoring the goals that secured recent titles in the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup for the club.
In the last season, the German forward appeared in 47 matches for Chelsea, scoring 9 goals and providing 2 assists. His contract with Stamford Bridge was set to expire at the end of June 2024.
Just like other Brazilian players such as Willian, David Luiz, and Jorginho, Havertz joins the list of former Chelsea players who have left the club to reinforce a London rival, Arsenal.
