Last Sunday, Tottenham drew 2-2 with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, in a match corresponding to the first round of the Premier League in the 2023/24 season. The four goals were scored during the course of the first half of the game.

Tottenham opened the scoring at the 11th minute of the match. Midfielder Maddison was fouled near the opponent’s area on the left side. He took the free-kick himself, and defender Romero headed in to complete the goal. However, there was a slight delay in confirming the goal through VAR.

The Brentford team equalized the game at the 26th minute. Forward Heung-min Son committed a foul against midfielder Jensen, resulting in a penalty kick. Striker Mbeumo converted the penalty. The home team managed to take the lead 10 minutes later. The play developed on the left side, where full-back Henry delivered a low cross and Wissa struck it first-time with his left foot.

Just before the end of the first half, in stoppage time, Tottenham leveled the match at 2-2. The ball remained active at the entrance of the opponent’s area, and Brazilian full-back Emerson Royal seized the opportunity with a strong low shot.

It’s worth mentioning that the first half had an additional 11 minutes added, due to the new added time policy in the Premier League for the season.

In the second half, Tottenham dominated Brentford, holding 73% possession and making 10 shots compared to the opponent’s four. However, despite this, the team couldn’t secure a victory in their first match of the Premier League 2023/24 season.
