Confident in Israel Adesanya’s victory, the rapper wagered $500,000 on the Nigerian winning by knockout. However, with ‘Izzy’ losing to Sean Strickland, the music icon incurred this substantial loss.
He shared the considerable setback on his social media accounts hours before the fight began.
Had the bet been successful, with Adesanya indeed knocking out Strickland and retaining the middleweight title (84 kg), Drake would have profited $420,000.
It’s interesting to note that this isn’t the first time Drake has incurred losses when betting on Adesanya’s victory. In November 2022, during the first showdown between the Nigerian and Alex Poatan in the UFC, the rapper wagered an astounding $2 million on ‘Izzy,’ but he was knocked out by the Brazilian on that occasion. Therefore, the musician has definitely not been lucky when betting on the now-former champion.
