Houston Rockets shooting guard Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested on Monday in New York, facing charges of domestic violence against his girlfriend, Kysre Gondrezick, who is a free agent in the WNBA, the United States’ premier women’s basketball league, as reported by ABC News. He is currently in custody at the 17th precinct of the NYPD, located in Manhattan, United States.
According to the report, the incident is said to have taken place at the Millennium Hotel in Times Square. Kevin Porter Jr. spent the night from Sunday to Monday outside the hotel, which led to Gondrezick’s irritation. In response, she locked the hotel room door, leaving him outside. The shooting guard then sought the hotel’s security assistance to gain entry to the room and, after managing to open the door, allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.
Kysre Gondrezick was taken to a nearby hospital, and according to information from the TMZ portal, she had facial injuries and a laceration to her right eye. Kevin Porter Jr. was drafted in 2019 by the Milwaukee Bucks but was soon traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Moreover, he had previously been arrested in 2020 on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and drugs in a motor vehicle.
