Notable Absences in UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Player Lists

One week before the start of the 2023/24 Champions League group stage, UEFA today released the lists of players registered by the 32 participating clubs, revealing some notable absences in the international football scene.

Each of the 32 teams competing in the Champions League group stage submitted two lists: a List A, consisting of the main squad players (with a maximum of 25 players), and a List B, intended for young players born after January 1, 2002.

Among the players who were not registered due to club or coaching staff decisions are names like midfielder Van de Beek from Manchester United, Julian Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain, forward Januzaj from Sevilla, and defender Bitshiabu from RB Leipzig.

Furthermore, some players were not registered due to injuries at the moment, such as Timber from Arsenal, Meunier from Borussia Dortmund, and forward Gabriel Verón from Porto, according to information from the Spanish newspaper “As.”

The first matches of the Champions League group stage will take place next Tuesday, with highlights including the clash between Young Boys and RB Leipzig.
