The English Football Association (FA) has imposed a five-month suspension on Harry Toffolo, a player from Nottingham Forest, which effectively extends until the end of the season, and has also fined him approximately £21,000 for violating local sports betting rules.
The English full-back admitted to breaching FA regulation E1(b) 375 times over a three-year period, spanning from January 22, 2014, to March 18, 2017. The FA issued the following statement regarding the case: “Harry Toffolo of Nottingham Forest has received a five-month suspension, to be served until the end of the 2024/25 season, and a fine of £20,956.22 for misconduct in relation to our betting rules. The defender admitted to breaching FA Rule E1(b) 375 times between January 22, 2014, and March 18, 2017, and an independent Regulatory Commission imposed these sanctions following a hearing. The written reasons of the Regulatory Commission for these decisions will be published in due course.”
This penalty for Toffolo is similar to the sanction imposed by the FA on Ivan Toney, a forward for Brentford and the English national team, who faced similar charges. However, in Toney’s case, the suspension was longer, lasting for eight months.
In the current season, Harry Toffolo has participated in only one game. The 28-year-old player, who was developed by Norwich, committed these infractions while playing for clubs such as Swindon, Rotherham, Peterborough, and Scunthorpe, which compete in the lower divisions of English football.
