At Manchester City, today marked a day of returns, not only from the players who were on international duty during the FIFA break but also from the head coach himself. Pep Guardiola returned to work at the club after a three-week absence due to back surgery.
The 52-year-old Spanish coach had to undergo emergency surgery due to severe back pain, and the procedure took place in Spain. During his recovery period, he stayed at rest in the country, specifically in Barcelona.
During Guardiola’s absence, assistant coach Juanma Lillo took charge of the team and maintained the team’s strong performance in the season, securing two victories: a 2-1 win against Sheffield United and a 5-1 victory over Fulham.
Manchester City leads the Premier League with a perfect 100% record. This Saturday, the team will travel to London to face West Ham.
