After a challenging start, Sevilla clinched their first La Liga victory this Sunday. In their fourth match of the season, playing at home, the team defeated Las Palmas 1-0, in a day marked by the return of Sergio Ramos.
The 37-year-old defender, who was developed by Sevilla and is a Real Madrid legend, returned to Spanish football after spending two seasons with Paris Saint-Germain. Ramos started the match as a starter and was not substituted.
Speaking about the reunion with the fans, Sergio Ramos commented, “It’s something unique, something that cannot be described.” His last game for Sevilla had been on August 28, 2005.
Belgian forward Lukebakio scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute of the second half. Midfielder Fernando, who came on as a substitute, was the only Brazilian on the field.
With this victory, Sevilla has reached three points in the table and currently occupies the 17th position in La Liga. In the next round, the team will face Osasuna away from home. Meanwhile, Las Palmas, with only two points, is in the second-to-last position, ahead of Almería.
