US Open Cup: This time, Lionel Messi couldn’t become the athlete with the most titles in the history of world football individually. Inter Miami, which was without the talented Argentine and full-back Jordi Alba, was defeated by Houston Dynamo 2-1 in the US Open Cup final.
The owner of the winning team, NBA star James Harden, was present at DRV PNK Stadium in Florida to witness the decision. Harden greeted David Beckham, one of the owners of Inter Miami, and celebrated his team’s goals and title.
In 2019, Harden joined the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo and acquired shares of the Front Office Sports company, which holds control of the MLS franchise, the Houston Dash in the NWSL, and a 5% stake in the Houston Rockets.
The final of the US Open Cup also had the presence of FIFA president Gianni Infantino. Off the field, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba cheered for Inter Miami as distinguished fans, just like the team’s owner, former player David Beckham. Sergio Busquets took to the field and greeted James Harden after the game.
