On Friday, Jorge Jesus’ team, Al-Hilal, secured a 2-0 victory over Al-Shabab, thus regaining the lead in the Saudi Championship and bringing a more tranquil atmosphere. During the game, Neymar missed a penalty but received praise from the Portuguese coach.
In a press conference after the match, Jorge Jesus was asked about the performance of the talented Brazilian player. He highlighted Neymar’s contribution to the team’s goals and summarized his assessment by saying, “with time, he will improve.”
Al-Hilal now has 20 points and has taken the top position in the standings, one point ahead of Al-Ittihad and Al-Taawon. Jorge Jesus made an ironic remark about returning to the lead:
“We played a tough match against Al Shabab, but our defensive performance was the best since the beginning of the season. We had few days of rest in the previous matches. Before this game, we had one extra day of rest, which helped us deliver a convincing performance,” said the Portuguese coach.
He added, “We’ve reclaimed the top spot, and now I look at the top and see no one.”
Jorge Jesus also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the fans for the victory and highlighted their incredible passion. However, he mentioned that the fans were not chanting his name during the game but suggested that this could change as the team achieves greater harmony and more positive results.
The next challenge for Jorge Jesus’ Al-Hilal, with Neymar, is scheduled for Tuesday when the team will face Iran’s Nassaji Mazandaran in the Asian Champions League.
