Coach Craig Tiley revealed that Rafael Nadal has a set date for his return to tennis in an interview given to the Australian channel “Nine.” Nadal plans to compete in the Australian Open in January 2024, following a nine-month absence due to a hip injury, which led to his early exit from the Australian tournament.
Craig Tiley expressed his excitement about Nadal’s comeback, emphasizing that the Spanish tennis player has been absent for most of the year, and in their recent conversations, Nadal confirmed his return.
Rafael Nadal, a holder of 22 Grand Slam titles, has faced several injuries in recent years. In 2023, a hip surgery forced him to stay off the courts for an indefinite period. Initially, he even mentioned the possibility of retiring in 2024 when he announced his absence from Roland Garros in May.
Furthermore, Craig Tiley also mentioned that there is an expectation that Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios, who have also been absent from tournaments, will return for the Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal has already won the Australian Open on two occasions, in 2009 and 2022.
