The Euro qualifying matches resume this Thursday with four opportunities to secure a place in next year’s tournament in Germany.
There are five teams with a chance to qualify, but at least one of them will not succeed during this international break as Belgium and Austria face each other in Group F, with only one of them able to secure their place mathematically.
Scotland, France, and Portugal, all with a perfect record so far, also have the opportunity to secure their spots.
In Group A, Scotland, the surprise of the qualifiers, plays against Spain in Seville and can secure qualification with a victory, as they would no longer be caught by Norway, who are third in the group. A slip-up by Scotland would still allow them to qualify if Norway fails to beat Cyprus, who has yet to earn a point.
In Group B, France, the reigning world runner-up, takes on the Netherlands at the Johan Cruijff Arena. A French victory would guarantee that they cannot be caught by the Dutch or Greece, who are in third place. If Greece is defeated in Ireland, a draw in Amsterdam is enough for France to secure their place in the Euro.
In Group F, Belgium and Austria, both undefeated with 13 points each, clash on Austrian soil. The winner secures that they cannot be caught by Sweden, the current third-placed team. A draw does not mathematically guarantee qualification for either, but it leaves them well positioned.
In Group J, Portugal, with six wins in six games, faces Slovakia, who are in second place. The Portuguese do not rely solely on their own efforts, as Luxembourg, the third-placed team, has eight points less, with nine available after this round. However, a victory against Iceland would place Portugal in the Euro.
Additionally, there are several other matches in the qualifiers during this international break.
