After Paulo Borrachinha’s withdrawal, UFC 294 has revealed the last-minute Brazilian replacement who will face Khamzat Chimaev on October 21st in Abu Dhabi.
The chosen fighter is Kamaru Usman, the former welterweight champion, as confirmed by the organization’s president, Dana White.
Paulo Borrachinha recently revealed that he had to undergo elbow surgery just over a month ago due to a staph infection, which prevented him from obtaining medical clearance for the fight.
Nigerian fighter Usman, with a track record of 20 wins and 3 losses in his career, was once one of the most dominant champions in the UFC, even though he suffered two consecutive losses to Leon Edwards.
On social media, Chimaev didn’t hold back in criticizing Borrachinha, stating, “This guy talked a lot of nonsense all year and now ran like a chicken.”
Dana White had to deal with last-minute changes this week, with Charles do Bronx and Paulo Borrachinha sustaining injuries and being surprisingly replaced by Alexander Volkanovski and Usman, respectively.
