The Australian tennis player Ajla Tomljanovic is the first prominent name confirmed for the first WTA tournament to be held in Brazil in seven years. The MundoTênis Open will take place in Florianópolis from November 19 to 26 at the Super 9 Tennis Park.
Tomljanovic achieved a significant victory by defeating the legendary Serena Williams in her final career match during the third round of last year’s US Open.
In her résumé, the Australian has also reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open and made notable appearances at Wimbledon in 2021 and 2022, where she reached the quarterfinals, as well as the round of 16 at Roland Garros in 2014.
The tournament director, Luzio Ramos, confirmed that more tennis heavyweights will be announced in the coming weeks.
