In his NBA debut, Victor Wembanyama, the top pick in the last league draft and center for the Spurs, couldn’t contain Luka Doncic. On Wednesday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 126-119 in a game played on the road. The standout of the game was the star Doncic, who recorded a triple-double with 33 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.
At 19 years of age and standing at a height of 2.24 meters, Wembanyama encountered foul trouble and played only 23 minutes. During that time, he had a modest performance with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.
The game began with both teams scoring many points right from the start, and the first quarter ended with a 43-36 lead for Wembanyama’s team. The game maintained a fast pace, and the Dallas Mavericks managed to prevail in all quarters, closing with a seven-point lead.
In addition to Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving also stood out with 22 points and 6 assists. On the Spurs’ side, Devin Vassell had a good performance with 23 points and 5 rebounds.
The Spurs will return to the court to face the Houston Rockets on Friday, while the Mavericks will take on the Brooklyn Nets on the same date.
