It’s important to note that the Clippers couldn’t yet count on the debut of their new team star, point guard James Harden, who was acquired in a trade earlier in the week. The main highlight for the Clippers was Kawhi Leonard, who was the game’s top scorer with 38 points.
This victory for the Lakers ended a streak of three seasons without a win against the Clippers, including 11 consecutive losses. The last meeting between the teams had taken place on April 5 when the Clippers won 125-118 at their home.
