The UEFA Champions League 2023/24 has begun shaping its knockout stage, with some teams securing spots in the round of 16 after the conclusion of the fourth round of group stage matches. On Tuesday, Manchester City and RB Leipzig were the first to qualify, followed by Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, and Inter Milan securing their places on Wednesday.
In Group A, Bayern Munich reached 10 points, making them unreachable for Galatasaray and Copenhagen. In Group C, Real Madrid reached 12 points, securing their position beyond the reach of Braga and Union Berlin.
Groups D and G already have both qualifiers decided: Real Sociedad and Inter Milan in Group D, while Manchester City and RB Leipzig secured their positions in Group G. In groups D and G, the only uncertainty is who will advance as the group leader.
The top two teams from each of the eight groups advance to the round of 16. In a draw scheduled for December 18, the matchups will be decided, placing the teams into two pots: one for the group winners and another for the runners-up.
The round of 16 has two restrictions: teams from the same group and the same country cannot face each other. From the quarterfinals onward, there are no more restrictions, and the matchups will be determined through a new draw.
The round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League 2023/24 is scheduled for February 13, 14, 20, and 21 (first-leg matches) and March 5, 6, 12, and 13 (second-leg matches).
