The English Football Association (FA) announced on Tuesday that midfielder Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid will not be available for the upcoming England national team matches against Malta and North Macedonia in the Euro 2024 Qualifiers.
Bellingham suffered a shoulder injury during Real Madrid’s match against Rayo Vallecano on November 5. Since then, he has not returned to the field, remaining on the bench for the matches against Braga in the Champions League and Valencia in the Spanish League. Chelsea’s defender, Levi Colwill, also had shoulder problems and has been released. Both underwent evaluation at England’s training center at St. George’s Park and will return to their clubs for recovery.
Despite this, England, leading Group C and already qualified for Euro 2024 in Germany, will have the presence of forward Marcus Rashford from Manchester United and midfielder Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City. Both players have not joined the squad due to “personal reasons,” according to the federation. However, they remain available for the match against Malta on Friday (17) at Wembley.
It’s worth noting that Marcus Rashford’s older brother and sports agent, Dane Rashford, was arrested in Miami on charges of assaulting his girlfriend, which occurred on October 20. The agent is scheduled to appear in the regional court on November 27.
